I miss you Dad. I wish we had not drifted so far apart. I feel like I need you now more than ever. I think of you every day, even though most days I cant even face the fact that you are actually gone. I am so glad that you found a family to love, that loves you back. I regret moving away, and wish I had done more to get to know you. Carol. Thank you so much for being there for him. You are the greatest thing that ever happened to my father. You made him whole. Before you he was a man without a better half. I love you, and yours, and I am sorry for always being so distant. I just do not know how to cope, without turning my back. You are an angel in my eyes.

I didn't know John very well but I knew him and his son from AOL's Digital Cities Hampton Roads. My warmest wishes for his family.

I worked with John at Newport News Shipbuilding.  What a nice guy!  My deepest sympathy goes out to the family.

John is a good friend who will be sorely missed by many.  May your happy and joyful memories of him get you through this time of grief.

I had the pleasure of working with John over the years who often old stories of you and the family which included the birds.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family.  Be encourgaed and know now that you have a guardian angel looking down on you.

We are saddened by his loss, yet many joyous memories have been left to warm our hearts. Jacks will truly be missed. We extend our arms of comfort to you at anytime.

We did not get to spend much time with John. I remember the great time we had at Brookfield Zoo with you both and Judy & Dan. We wish we knew him better. He is smiling down from heaven now, and he remembers all of his life.

I am sorry to hear of the loss of Captain / Major Houlihan as I knew him.  I worked for and with him for a few years at Langley AFB...we ran into each other a few times over the years at the BX on Langley..we chatted and reminisced about the "good ole" days...Such a very nice man, funny and always had a SMILE...My condolences to his family...I am very sorry for your loss!

He was a great man to work with and especially good at mentoring the young folks who worked with us. Heard lots of stories about his career, children, parrots, and you. Always talking about going home to Carol.

I remember meeting John in 1970 when we were in Civil Air Patrol at Nassau Squadron 6 in Freeport, NY.  For the couple of years, we shared so many activities with the many people who were in John's orbit -- pizza after squadron meetings, Saturdays out at the old Zahns airport, encampments and of course the aid we provided during the big floods in southern New York.  

John's leadership derived from his natural ability to be a 'connector', who brought people together and helped us all enjoy ourselves, and I think be better people in the process.

Thanks for the experiences and memories, John.
