Johnnie was an Army veteran and a retired butcher. He was a deacon at Calvary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dillard and Lala White; and daughter, Elaine Whitley. He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Tennessee White; son, Keith White (Cindy); step-daughter, Tammie Bruner; brothers, William Earl White, Henry White, and Dillard White, Jr.; and sister, Bertha Baldwin.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 4, 2014 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A Celebration of Johnnie’s life will be held on Sunday, October 5 at 1:00 pm at Calvary Baptist Church, 4700 Huntington Avenue, Newport News, being officiated by Dr. Paul Lawson. Interment will follow at Hampton-Veterans Memorial Gardens.
