He was a lifelong resident of Hampton, VA (Fox Hill). He was surrounded by his family at the time of his death.
Kevin was a proud father of three sons and an adoring “Papa” to his 15-month-old granddaughter, Olivia Jane Jenkins, who he lovingly called “Livvy”. He is also survived by his children, Chris Stowell, Josh (India) Jenkins and Nathan Jenkins; his former wife and mother of his children, Stephanie McClain; his father, John M. (Earline) Jenkins; his longtime significant other, Cara Riley; his sister, Michelle Dore; his uncle, David (Patricia) Jenkins; his aunts, Wanda (Paul) Bostic and Lisa (Skip) Gilmour; his nephews Robert Jenkins, David Leatherman, and Sean (Brooke) Wolkowich; and his great niece and nephew Madilyn and Jamison Walkowich; He was preceded in death by his mother Jean Williams, brother Robert “Bobby” Jenkins, and nephew Jacob Dore.
Kevin enjoyed playing baseball as a child, and this led to his love of sports. One of his biggest joys was watching his boys play football and baseball. He was an avid fan of both professional and collegiate sports, supporting the Washington Redskins, Atlanta Braves, UNC Basketball, and University of Miami Football. He was known to sneakily redecorate the porch flag during baseball season.
Growing up, Kevin enjoyed tending the vegetable gardens in Fox Hill with his grandfather which fostered a passion for cooking. Kevin would often challenge others against his skills in the kitchen or on the smoker. No one could top his famous meal of meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and lima beans.
He was known as a “Funcle” and shared in a special relationship with his pseudo nieces, Gracen and Hadley Riley. He had a love for animals, especially his cat Bogie, who he jokingly referred to as his “Best Buddy.”
Kevin had a giant heart and a love for his family and friends like no other. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
