

Lee Scott Bowers, 62, passed away at home September 30, 2012. Scotty was a dedicated employee of Hampton City Schools Television Services for 28 years. He was previously employed by WVEC. Scotty was a longtime history enthusiast and member of the Williamsburg Civil War Roundtable and Magruder-Ewell Camp of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He also served in the Army National Guard from 1969-75. He was a 1968 graduate of Hampton High School where he showed his school spirit as “Freddie the Crab”. Scotty was a loving husband, brother, son and father. Everyone loved his warm smile and unique sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife, Dianne Atkins Bowers; mother, Mildred Bowers of Hampton; daughter Rebecca Hughson, her husband Todd and their children, Victoria and Luke of Williamsburg; daughters Susan and Sarah Bowers of Newport News; 2 sisters Carolyn and Catherine Bowers of Hampton; 2 brothers, William and Michelle Bowers of Hampton and James and Merilyn Bowers of Newport News; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 6, at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Hampton. Immediately following the service the family will receive guests in the fellowship hall at the church.
