I have known Scotty thru my years in the HCS. His passing is a loss for all who knew him. A devoted family man and school employee who gave his time tirelessly. His warm smile and gentle demeanor are traits I will always remember.  A truly nice guy!

I was completly stunned when I heard of Scotty's passing. I sat down and I tried to remember if anyone every had a bad word to say about Scotty and I couldn't think of any. He was so well respected by everyone and a true friend to so many people. I knew Scotty in his entire career at HCS. We both worked on the set-up of the current Darling Stadium for broadcast of high school events. With the help of his great staff it was/is the best in Virginia. Scotty, I will miss you my friend and Diane and family ,I hope God gives you and the family strength during this time.

Scotty and I go back a long way. He even called me the couple of times he came to Las Vegas and I enjoyed spending time with him. I was so surprised to hear about his passing. My heart and best wishes go out to the family. I will always remember the good times we shared.

Please accept my deepest sympathies.  May the memories of happy times give you comfort.

Please know that your whole family is in my heart and prayers during this difficult time.  I hope it will bring you some comfort to know that he started quite a dynasty, and will live on through each of you.

to the family scotty i was sadden with the lost of scotty.we worked together at  hampton city school for many years.He was a true to me.It will always stay with the last time we talked which was the fridaynite before his passing.

My prayers are with you Diane, Carolyn and family. Scotty was such a soft-spoken gentleman. His demeanor was always the same. I loved his sense of humor and his willingness to be helpful. As a retired employee of Hampton City Schools I am grateful that our paths crossed during our journey in life. Cherish your memories.

I am very sorry to learn of Scotty's untimley passing. I served with Scotty in the 111th Field Artillery Army National Guard in the 1970's. We became fast friends. I too worked in education in Isle of Wight County and Perquimans County NC schools and would run into Scotty at media conferences where would reconnect and reminisce. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

It was July 20th 1976. It was my first day on the job at WVEC-TV. I was taken around the facility and introduced to all of my new follow co-workers. During the tour I was introduced to a man that would turn out to be a major part of my life. His name was Scotty Bowers. As I shook this persons hand for the first time I would have never guessed we were forming a friendship that would last 36 years. The man was the greatest. The greatest of friends, the greatest boss. A man of the highest morals and dedication to family. A man filled with wisdom and unbelievable patience. A man with a sense of humor that would take no prisoners. Us WVEC old timers used to affectionately and respectfully refer to Scotty as "The B". There will only be one. Thank you Scotty for everything. The memory of "The B" will carry on.

How much I will miss Scottie--what a warm, wonderful friend for many years.  The right words are so hard to find right now. May he rest in peace.  My prayers to all of the family, especially Dianne, Sarah, Susan & Becky. God bless you all.

Knowing Scotty was a privilege!  As a fellow Hampton High alum, coworker, and ultimately as a school board member. He touched everyone on so many different levels and excelled at everthing he set out to accomplish.

His contributions as a husband, parent, educational administrator, and asset to the community made him exceptional as well as someone whose contributions will be missed by all who knew him.

I was saddened to read of Scotty's passing. We were colleagues at WVEC eons ago. He was always quick to help someone. and quick with a smile. He was one of a kind and will be missed.

Scotty was most definitely the kind of person that could get things done without fanfare, but with skill and expertise.  His time and talent for Hampton City Schools and the community is a source of pride.  
I value my experiences of working with Scotty - Hunt for Hampton History-Civil War, getting public announcements for events out, recording a special project, televising school board meetings, chatting with the production crew and Scotty backstage at the graduations.  How fortunate am I to have known this man.    
To all the Bowers family members, coworkers and many friends, my deepest sympathy and thoughts and prayers of encouragement and healing.  He will be greatly missed.

Wow, just saw Scotty at last Friday night's football game, exchanged the customary hug that came with Scotty's greetings.  Always warm, friendly, happy and respectful greetings.  RIP Scotty.  God bless your family and friends during this difficult time.

Truly saddened by the too soon passing of my friend of over 55 years.  From elementary school, playing in the neighborhood, Scouting, and Little League, Scotty was always great to be around.  Though we hadn't seen much of each other in the last decades, I knew he was the same genuine guy.  I will miss him.  My thoughts are with the Bowers family.

I send my love to each and all of the Bowers Family.  I remain grateful for the many Bowers acts of kindness.  Dianne, I treasure the wedding video that you shot for Heather and George.  It was so gracious of Scottie to teach an enrichment class on the Civil War in Super Saturday.  Of course, I cannot recount the number of times Scottie went our of his way to help me as a member of HCS Schools.  
The shock each of you endure is great and I pray for God's gracious love to surround each of you.

While I only had a few interactions with him....in those few moments you can tell he was a very kind and caring soul. My prayers are with all the bowers family members. The angels are always near to those who are grieving, to whisper to them that their loved ones are safe in the hand of God. Wishing and praying for god to help you through these difficult times

It was a privilege for me to work with Scotty at WHCS Channel 5 from 1990-1993.  I appreciate his professional example and the fun he brought to his media career.  He encouraged my interest in broadcasting and helped me realize the importance of solid work behind the camera.  I will fondly remember Scotty's behind-the-scenes quips during my halftime show marching band introductions from Darling Stadium “back in the day” – he'd make me laugh right before the camera started rolling!  Working with Scotty, Dr. Samuel Still, Beverly Penn, and Jerome Young in high school helped develop my passion for effective communication that continues until today.

I pray that the Holy Spirit will comfort and strengthen you during this time of loss.

Scotty and I worked at WVEC-TV in the early 70s and have been friends throughout my career.  I'm a Engineer like Scotty and I have a college football game on Saturday.  He will be in my thoughts throughout the day.

I was sorry to hear about your brother.  When I first saw him in County Grill he reminded me of a big teddy bear.

Scotty, your transition from this life has left a remarkable hole in the hearts of your family, friends and the community.  Your witty sayings and jokes live on through your children and I see your love of life and the human spirit in each of your daughters.

Prayers out to you all at this very sad time.  I remember seeing Mr. Bowers only a handful of times, but distinctly remember his jovial personality and smile.

I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Scottie when Roosevelt read it in the paper on yesterday.  As everyone have said, I can remember him being quiet and with that smile.  We all will miss him. Great job Scotty. HCS sports channel is probably the best high school sports channel on the east coast because of your hard work. Thousands of students have benefitted from your services. May God Bless the Bowers family.

It is still so hard for me to believe...Scotty had to of been the friendliest person I knew, he always had a kind word, smile and a warm hug each time I saw him.  I cannot express in words how sad I am, he was such a generous and happy guy... just an all around joy to be around.  I am so happy that I was blessed enough to be his friend and coworker for the last 15 years. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you Dianne, Carolyn, his daughters and the rest of his family and friends.

All the Carpers are going to miss this guy, our friend, in a big way,Dianne. What a happy and friendly fellow. As Suzanne Insley told me: He could light up a room by just entering it.  It's true!

It is a sad time for all who knew my friend and former co-worker Scotty Bowers. We had lunch together occasionally when time allowed which was always appreciated. We remembered the former years at WVEC-TV. The good old days when working at TV13 was a true blessing in disguise. Scott was always dependable, kind and considerate of others.
