Our precious “Honey” has left us with a hole in our hearts. He was a quiet, tender, loving, compassionate husband, father, and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He loved the outdoors, his garden, tennis, duck- hunting on the Eastern Shore, boating with his sons, and working in the yard. He was extremely devoted to his family.
He was an engineer at the Newport News Shipyard for 35 years. He was in the Class of 1956 at Virginia Tech. He loved his alma mater football games to the point that he couldn’t sleep if they lost.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Fran, of 58 years; his devoted sons, Clay (Carol) and Todd (Mel); and his loving grandchildren, Allison, Christopher, Jessica, Madeline, and Maxwell.
A celebration of Leonard’s life will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, April 4, at First Presbyterian Church in Hampton with Rev. Dr. Cynthia Higgins officiating. A private burial will be held at St. George’s Episcopal Church Cemetery in Pungoteague, VA on his beloved Eastern Shore.
