Born on March 12, 1941, in Belhaven, North Carolina, Lindsey was the beloved son of Roland and Lillian Midgette and the youngest brother to Roland Lee Midgette Jr. and Paul Midgette. A proud graduate of Norview High School, Class of 1959, Lindsey built a lifelong career as an electrician. He was a dedicated member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for 44 years and retired from the Norfolk Ford Plant in 2004.
Lindsey is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Janet Rose Midgette, who was his soulmate and constant companion through life. He was a devoted father to Lisa (Billy) Shifflett, Kimberly (Miguel) Rodriguez, Robert Ebe, and Allen (Sandra) Midgette. Lindsey was blessed with nine grandchildren — Claude Shifflett III, Amber Hentz, Kristie Daniels, Zachary, Nathan, and Ian Midgette, Alex Dorn, Rachel Kitchin, and Luke Ebe — and eleven cherished great-grandchildren. He is also remembered dearly by several nieces and nephews.
Lindsey had a lifelong passion for classic cars and a gifted hand for designing and drafting homes. His creativity was matched by a strong faith; he found inspiration and comfort in studying the Bible and listening to Pastor Arnold Murray of The Shepherd’s Chapel. Lindsey never missed an opportunity to share God’s word and to live by it each day.
He will be remembered for his integrity, his kindness, and his unwavering devotion to the Lord. Lindsey’s life was a testimony to his favorite verse:
“Choose you this day whom ye will serve; ... but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
— Joshua 24:15 (KJV)
A memorial celebration of life will be held at a later date, to be determined by his family.
The family wishes to thank all who have shared their prayers, love, and support during this time.
