Lois was born on October 6, 1931, in Montclair, New Jersey, to Royal and Elva Earle. A Peninsula resident since 1968, Lois was a career Air Force wife who traveled the world, living in France, Germany, and Japan, as well as several bases stateside. She moved to Warwick Forest in her later years, a place she loved calling home. She enjoyed socializing with beloved friends, playing games, and being a grandmother most of all.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David J. Van Valkenburg; and sister Beverly Kosarowich. She is survived by her brother, Royal Earle Jr.; son, Lee Van Valkenburg; daughter, Nancy Brandenburg; and granddaughters, Kelly Van Valkenburg and Jamie Brandenburg.
A graveside service will be held at Parklawn Memorial Park on Tuesday, September 14 at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society.
