Michael Shawn Campbell, age 52, a lifelong resident of Hampton, Virginia passed away on Friday, June 8, 2018. When diagnosed with cancer 6 years ago Michael’s prognosis was grim, however his will and determination to fight cancer was remarkable. Kudos to our beloved brother for such a heroic fight. You will be missed greatly and forever in our hearts!
Many thanks to the doctors and nurses at Riverside Oncology and VCU who cared for Mike, your compassion and expertise did not go unnoticed.
Michael was an HVAC technician by trade and worked for several local companies over the years. He also possessed many other handyman skills such as electrical, plumbing and carpenter.
Michael was an avid Sci-Fi fan and enjoyed cooking, especially mom's pumpkin rolls around Thanksgiving. During family gatherings Michael was always behind the scenes helping out with the cooking and cleaning.
Michael is preceded in rest by his parents, Judith A. Campbell and Mickie Campbell. He is survived by his sister, Lisa Deel (Randy) of Hampton, Virginia and brothers, Scott Smith of Norfolk, Virginia and Marc Smith (Diana) of Hampton, Virginia and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held by Pastor Jeff Cannon, July 14 at 10:00 am at Parklawn Memorial Park, Mausoleum Chapel, 2551 N. Armistead Avenue, Hampton, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
