Nancy Hoyle passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 15, 2014. Nancy was born on September 19, 1933 in Fries, Virginia. Nancy had a successful career as a manager for Revco Drug Stores until her retirement in 1996. She was very passionate about her work and loved to help others. Throughout her career, she touched the lives of her customers and employees in many ways and was highly regarded by all. You couldn't go to Revco without saying hi to Nancy. Nancy was a renegade when it came to work life balance. Despite her successful career, she knew the importance of putting family first and always did just that.
Nancy is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Gordon Hoyle, two daughters and son-in-laws, Carol and Ron Fama of Newport News, VA, and Stacey and Andy Hammonds of Hampton, VA, and her son and daughter-in-law, John and Roxanne Karash of Maricopa, AZ. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Ben and Mackenzie Fama, Leah and Joey Karash, and Cody Hammonds. She was completely unapologetic when it came to bragging about how smart and talented her beloved grandchildren were. Nancy adored her miniature Schnauzer, Riley. Alzheimer's disease brings many symptoms, but Riley was always faithful and comforting to her during those times. He even got a special pass to visit her in her nursing home! Someone once said that when someone passes away not to say, "they are in a better place," but it's comforting for us to think that Nancy truly is. Where she is now, she has all of her wonderful memories, she is happy, she is independent and most importantly she has her dignity back. She was the best wife, mom, mother-in-law and Nanny ever.
The family will have visitation on Wednesday, November 19, from 6 to 7:30 pm at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home in Hampton, Virginia. The funeral will be private.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Alzheimer's Association Southeastern Chapter, 6350 Center Drive, Suite 102, Norfolk Virginia 23502.
