

Mr. Flaim was born May 16th, 1938 in Hazleton, PA. He was the son of the late Lester Flaim and Marguerite Mullen Flaim. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Loretta Rico Flaim, his daughter, Angela Flaim Marshall, and great-granddaughter, Brooke Hamlett. Nicholas was survived by daughters, Debbie Flaim Braskey (Jim) and Shellie Flaim and son, Nick Flaim. He was also survived by grandchildren, Nicolas Berger, Goldie Van Horn, Shannon Reith, James Braskey, Alaina Cole, Marissa Moore, Amber Pettigrew, Caitlyn Edwards, Scott Flaim Edwards, numerous great-grandchildren as well as great-great-grandchildren.
Nicholas graduated from West Hazleton High School in 1955. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the US Air Force and served for more 20 years being stationed in Nebraska, England, Texas, Iceland, Thailand, and Virginia. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked as a US Army civil servant for 26 years. Mr. Flaim started college at age 30 and attended several universities to include: Marywood University, William and Mary, and Virginia State University. He obtained his first master’s degree in Psychology from Marywood University in 1978 and his second master’s degree in Education Administration from Virginia State University in 1981.
Nicholas made many friends along his travels that will remember him fondly, but most of all he was always be remembered as a lovable Grump.
A visitation will take place on Saturday, August 22nd, 2020, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. with a service to follow at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N Armistead Ave.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Disabled Veterans Fund, the VFW of Phoebus, or the American Cancer Society.
