

Pearl P. Overman passed away from this world into her heavenly home peacefully on April 8, 2013. Ninety-one active years of life brought Pearl many wonderful experiences and gave her many opportunities to impact many people with whom she came in contact.
Pearl was born in Pinetown, NC. She attended Shiloh Free Will Baptist Church, where she accepted Christ as her Savior as a child. In 1940, she left North Carolina and moved to Newport News, VA. She began working for F.W. Woolworth and later worked driving a school bus. Her natural talent was expressed through her sewing abilities. She retired after 20 years at JC Penney's, working in their alteration department. She then worked at Leggett's Department Store and S&K Men's Wear doing alterations. She continued to remain active with her sewing by serving her friends and family, altering or fixing any clothing item or project that she could help them with.
Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Price; her beloved son, Ronnie Price, whom she loved and cared for until his passing; brothers, Gordon and Belvin Boyd; half-brothers, Billy and Bobby Boyd; and sister, Syble Mallory. Pearl is survived by her sister, Macy Bell; and grandchildren, Glenda Price and Darrel Price; and daughter-in-law, Dinah. Pearl is also survived by many nieces, nephews and many friends who have been impacted by her life.
Pearl was known for her vibrant personality. She never met a stranger and was always ready to be a witness for her Savior, Jesus Christ.
Pearl's family will accept friends for a visitation, Wednesday, April 10, 2013 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A Celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
