Mr. Pope was my hero. When I was a young boy, he was my Sunday School teacher. He inspired me to want to read my Bible and to be ready with my Sunday School lesson every week. I had no father, but he treated me like I was his son. He introduced me to camping and eating grits too. Most of all, he told me about Jesus and showed me what a real man was like. I thank God on every remembrance of him.

Vince, we did not know about your dad passing until after the service. I finally found this site and boy can I tell you my wife and I have poured over those pictures several times. I'll never forget the first time I met your family I had called about an ad in the old Trading Post about that red Olds station wagon, we were trying to figure out a good time for me to come out and see the car. It was a wendesday night and after a few minutes we realized yall were visiting Good News. I bought the car which was a great deal and a strong friendship began that night. What a great man your dad was. He did me many favors over the years, I will never forget him or you. Please know how much we love you and your family. p.s. Did he ever give up his loyalty to them old fords.

I remember Earl, Joyce, Buddy and Sandy when we were young kids.  Our dads were drinking buddies.  We lost track of each other as were grew older.  I had a brother Monroe that I lost 1/4/2013.  The six of us were good friends.  I 
have often thought or all of you.

What a blessing it was that God gave our family a man like Earl.As a child I  remember him having time to talk with me. Now that I am grown I am so thankful for all the times that Earl and I talked on the telephone.When Earl and Lois welcomed Wayne into their home in early March I never knew that would be the last time I would see him until the Lord calls me home.Earl I will miss our talks and your sweet spirit that has been a guide for me so many times.I remember once when I was small you came to see us as you were coming in the door behind me ,(my Mommy had a saying if you left the door open)" shut the door Richard" not knowing that you were coming in too. Now not only was the door of Heaven left open for you,but your Father said  "Well done good and faithful servant!Inter in to your rest Earl ,you have earned it.

Mr. Pope was always able to bring a smile to my face. So full of life, laughter and lots of stories. A long time friend of our family and the memories are many and precious. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I will always treasure the memories and friendship that Bob and I had with Earl and Marie.  Celebrations of birthdays, church dinners, visitation, a mission trip, Sunday School and the overall sweet spirit we shared serving the Lord together.  We were a family, with a special bond of friendship that I will always hold close to my heart.  Until we meet again to celebrate eternal life with our Lord together, my thoughts and prayers are with Vince and Lois and the family during this time. In the time we've been married, Ron has shared with me many fond memories of his Uncle Earl. I know you have been a lively and caring presence in his life. In recent years, each time we visited with you, you gave us the warmest welcome. My deepest condolences to the family.

Earl was a living testimony to God's amazing grace.  I have never known a kinder, gentler man who touched so many lives in so many different ways.  Truly an inspiration to all who knew him.

Earl epitomized "For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain".

We just want you to know that we are praying for God to be very real to you in the coming days.  Earl was one of the first people to speak to us when we came to Bethel, and we will always remember his kindness to us and his godly testimony. Heaven is rejoicing over his arrival, and God's grace will be sufficient for those of us who will miss him here.

I didn't visit as much as I should have...that's my way of protecting myself from heartbreak when things like this happen. Thank you for being there for me and my sister when we needed you. I always looked forward to my visits at your house. I know you are back where your meant to be with your honey by your side. I love you. ??

Uncle Earl, you were always the Rock of the family. You were tough and strong but also gentle and you never held back a smile and a kind word. You could talk to anybody in the world and make them think they were your best friend, and you had a natural authority that came from quiet confidence. You could be totally serious one minute telling the kids to stop cutting up and then the next minute have everybody laughing making a silly video. I never told you enough that I loved you but I take comfort knowing now you can hear it all the time.

Our deepest sympathy and prayers go out to the Pope family on the death of Earl. He was a wonderful man and it was our great pleasure to have known him and Marie. He will be happy to finally be able to see her again in Heaven!

"Uncle" Earl was one of the greatest gifts that the Lord blessed me with. God gave him to me just at the perfect time. It was such a blessing to know I had someone praying for my family and me. We loved him so much. He wanted nothing else in this world than to see all his family saved, so they could be together always. He was so proud of you Vince, so thankful for Lisa and so blessed by Jake and Emily. We will see him again.

Our deepest sympathies go out to the Pope family, the best neighbors anyone could ever wish for. Earl was such a giving man always willing to do anything for you. He gave so much joy to my father taking him on fishing trips and he put up with our crazy dogs and goats too! Even in our busy lives when we didn't talk often enough, we knew Earl was always there for us if we needed him. My heart was heavy the day I moved away from the Pope family knowing we had moved away from such a wonderful family. We're thinking of you all.
