She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, James “Jim” Bialk; mother, Mary Jenkins; father, James Rector; sister, Kay Smith; and brother, James Rector Jr.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons: Stanley “Joey” and Norman (Tammy); grandsons: Matthew (Takia), Jesse, James, Wesley, and Jacob (Reva); great-grands: Emily, Abigail, Ayana, Roman, and Jonah; her brother, Earl Rector; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Shirley worked for almost 20 years as a secretary at Fort Monroe, working directly for many high-ranking officers, including US Army generals. She loved visiting Fort Monroe and going to the beach—especially the Outer Banks.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 North Armistead Ave, Hampton, Virginia 23666. A celebration of Shirley's life will occur at 2:00 PM, followed by an interment at Parklawn Memorial Park.
