Shirley was born on December 20, 1933 in Hampton, Virginia to parents, Naomi Carpenter and John B. Fond. She worked as a bookkeeper for 26 years at the United Virginia-Crestar Bank, until her retirement in 1991. Shirley was a loyal member of Hampton Baptist Church and patron of the Moose Lodge.
Shirley loved to laugh, sing karaoke, play bingo, dance (especially to Alan Jackson songs,) and spending time with family, including her 3 beloved cats, whom she called "her babies," Puff, Peanut and Pepper.
Shirley was preceded in death by her mother, Naomi (Carpenter Fond) Clatte; father, John B. Fond; sister, Betty Mae Buehler and 3 husbands, John Vranjes Jr., George E. Morgan and Charles E. Bush.
Shirley is survived by her son, Jay Matthew Vranjes; daughter, Donna Jean (Vranjes) Cosentino (Ian); grandson, Chase Gilman Cosentino and great-grandson, Colin John Joseph Cadigan.
Shirley is loved dearly and will be missed by all who knew her.
A public visitation for Shirley will be held Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home & Memorial Park, followed by a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 11:30 AM. Shirley will be laid to rest at Parklawn Memorial Park.
