Shirley Lee Whiting Lewis

Shirley Lee Whiting Lewis, 91, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2011. She was born on August 9, 1920 in Newport News and was a resident of Hampton. Shirley was born a Crabber…lived a Crabber and died a Crabber. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Hampton.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Machen Lewis, Sr.; her brothers, Thomas Whiting and Charles Whiting; daughter, Shirley Lewis; and daughter-in-law, Patsy Lewis. Surviving members of her family include her sons, Arthur Machen Lewis, Jr. of Dunn, NC, George Cameron Lewis, and Randolph Whiting Lewis and his wife, Heidi Stainbrook Lewis; daughter, Kathleen Hayden Lewis; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Shirley's life will be held on Friday, October 28 at 11:00 am at First Presbyterian Church of Hampton. Interment will be private.
