

He was born July 14, 1932 in Georgia before moving to Virginia in the 1950’s. Thomas joined the Marines and served his country during the Korean War. While stationed at Yorktown Naval Weapons Station, he met his wife of 40 years, Peggy. After his time of service, he worked as an insurance agent finally settling on a career in real estate. Thomas was the chairperson for the Board of Realtors and for several years was the director for The Parade of Homes on the Peninsula.
Thomas was a member of Bethany Methodist Church in Hampton and served in most leadership and committee positions of the church as well as Lay Speaker. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was proud to receive his 50 year pin. Other interests that he pursued was membership in the Elks and volunteering for the American Red Cross.
He is survived by daughters Kathy Stumpf (Dale) of Hampton and Donna Greenside (Eddie) of Virginia Beach; grandchildren Jason Stumpf, Christopher Stumpf, Emily Winn (Tyler), and Justin Greenside;
great-grandson Lennox Winn; and many nieces and nephews.
Thomas is predeceased by his wife, Peggy, and daughter, Lynn.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, February 5, 2024, at Bethany Methodist Church, 1509 Todds Lane, Hampton, VA, 23666 beginning at 11:00 am., followed by a lunch at the church, with burial to follow at Parklawn Memorial Park, 2551 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton VA, 23666. Memorial donations may be made to Bethany Methodist Church.
