Thomas "Pops" Nelson Gage

Thomas "Pops" Nelson Gage, age 86, of Newport News, Virginia passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022. Pops was born January 20, 1936 in Virginia. Thomas "Pops" served in the United States Airforce and continued serving his community as a firefighter at the Coast Guard Station. Followed up by a career in the Hampton Sherrif's Department until he retired. Upon retiring, Pops decided he wasn't quite done with serving the community and took up becoming a crossing guard until he was 84 years old. One of his greatest joys in life was being with his wife and being surrounded by his loving family. Thomas was the beloved husband of over 60 years to Margaret Gage, brother of Cardwell Gage, an admired father to Thomas N. Gage Jr., Katy Gage, and Richard M. Gage. Cherished Grandfather to Joey Mattews (Annette Delk), Christina Hollingshead, Donald O. Dupuis (Christine Dupuis), Nichole Delk(Stacey Griffin), and Danielle Holloway (Krystal Bradley). Great Grandfather of Harleigh, Lola, Luna, Julianna, Thomas, and Cole. A celebration of life for Pops will be held Sunday, May 22, 2022, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 North Armistead Ave, Hampton, Virginia 23666. Following the celebration of life will be a reception from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared below.
