“Tim,” as he was affectionately known, was born on September 13, 1950 to the late Melvin Nathaniel Davis, Sr. and Dorothy Marie Davis. He was born and raised in Newport News, VA. Tim was educated in the Newport News School system graduating from Huntington High School, class of 1968. He was the second oldest of eight children.
Tim lived a life of service and loved helping people. He used his love of people in his career, working in the customer service industry. For over 25 years he was the manager of Hofheimer’s Shoe store. For the past 15 years he worked as a Family Service Counselor at Hampton Memorial Gardens. In both lines of work Tim went out of his way to make sure his customers were pleasantly satisfied.
He married his childhood sweetheart, Linda Davis, the love of his life on February 28, 1970. To this union, God blessed them with two wonderful children. Tim loved his family dearly. He was a kind, compassionate, considerate and loving family man who always demonstrated the love of Christ. Always the peacemaker, he never made enemies but treated all people the same by sharing his bright smile. He lived his life thinking of others. He exhibited love not only to his family, but to everyone he came in contact with.
Tim was outgoing and loved sports. He enjoyed bowling and playing tennis. He also loved watching wrestling and football, and was always cheering for his favorite team, the Colts. In 1992, Tim accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He then became a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church, Newport News, VA where he was baptized. He faithfully served as a past Trustee, Sunday school teacher, scout leader, member of the male chorus, men’s ministry, and young men’s ministry leader. He loved his pastor, church, and most importantly, the Lord.
Tim leaves to celebrate his life his wife of 44 years, Linda Davis; daughter, Tracy Lockhart (Daryl), of Durham, NC; son, Timothy J.
