William Odell Godwin, 88, found eternal peace on June 11, 2016. Born in Johnston County, North Carolina and a longtime resident of Hampton, he served his country as a member of the United States Navy and retired from the Civil Service. Most of his retired years were spent as a parts delivery driver for Wynne Ford. He is loved, and will be remembered and missed by his wife, Loretta; his children, Linda Birdsong, Sheila Skeps, Terrie Fuller, Derrell Godwin, and Steven Godwin; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and will forever be in the hearts of the lives he touched.
William was preceded in rest by his parents, George Godwin and Ada Batten and his son, Gerald Godwin.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at the mausoleum chapel at Parklawn Memorial Park, with a service to immediately follow. Interment will be at Parklawn Memorial Park.
