Mr. Pennybacker retired after 40 years as a pipefitter and foreman in the X-42 Pipe Dept. at the Newport News Shipbuilding Co..
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Martha Pennybacker; daughter, Terry Sutton; son, Todd Pennybacker; granddaughters, Farley Sutton, Taylor Sutton, and Kerri Pennybacker. Also surviving is his great-grandson, Aiden Wyatt; brother John (Mary) Pennybacker of Maryland and sister, JoAn Holman of Texas.
A celebration of William’s life will be held Tuesday, May 27, at the gravesite in Parklawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to First Calvary Baptist Church, 162 Alleghany Rd., Hampton, VA 23661 or to Northampton Volunteer Fire Co., 1221 Todds Lane, Hampton, VA 23666.
