

Mr. Vernon was born in Greensboro, NC, June 4, 1947, to William A. Vernon Jr. and Myrtle Rodrigues Vernon. He proudly served on the submarine "Poseidon" during the Vietnam War. He was a talented artist with many pallets; an accomplished painter and musician. Following his hitch in the Navy, Mr. Vernon was the general manager of Breezy Point at NAS, and Fort Monroe officer's club, an executive chef, and a certified dietician. Throughout his life he remained committed to a tireless work ethic. A great man committed to family and the VFW community.
He is survived by the love of his life, Connie; his mother, Myrtle Rodrigues Vernon of Greensboro, NC; son, Scott W. Vernon and wife, Candace of Williamsburg, VA; daughter, Megan V. Vernon of Richmond, VA; and granddaughter, Elise N. Vernon of Seaford, VA.
A visitation will be held Monday, March 8, 5:30-7:30 pm at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A Mass will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, March 9, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 512 Buckroe Ave, Hampton, VA. The interment will be held at a later date in Eden, NC.
