

William M. Watson, JR., 93, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of June 6, 2024. Born on January 2, 1931, in Jeffs, York County, VA, he was the son of William M. Watson, Sr. and Hilda H. Hunt.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys, and two sons, William M. “Mel” Watson, III, and his wife Kaye, and Chuck Watson; four grandsons, William M. “Sonny” Watson, IV (Tori), Jesse “Tyler” Watson, Bradley A. Watson (Shayla), and Devon F. Watson, and five beautiful great granddaughters. Additionally, he is survived by his beloved sister, Betty J. Brantley and Brother-in-Law, Donald R. Brantley, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Larry W. Clarkson.
After graduating from Hampton High School in 1948, he worked briefly at NN Shipyard before enlisting in the Navy during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in September of 1952 and returned home, where he met the love of his life, Gladys. They married in 1956 and remained together until his passing.
Dad & Mom put God first in their lives, and their faith in Him sustained them throughout their years together. They attended Calvary Assembly of God and later Warwick Assembly of God, maintaining friendships through the years with many, many friends.
