

Wilma Deaton Goodwin, 88, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2013. She was a native of Ages, Kentucky and a resident of Hampton for 61 years. Wilma was raised in the holiness faith and attended West Hampton Baptist Church. She was a Department Head at Leggetts and retired in 1979 after 13 years of service. She was an avid bingo player and was a member of the Hampton Elks Lodge 366 Ladies of the Elks since 1970.
Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Goodwin, Jr; parents, Sudie and John Deaton, Sr.; and brothers, John Deaton, Jr. and Darrell Deaton. She is survived by her son, Philip C. Goodwin (Betty) of Smithfield; daughter, Cheryl Romanus (Charles) of Talladega, AL; grandchildren, Philip C. Goodwin, Jr. (Jennifer) of El Paso, TX, Maria Goodwin of Orange Park, FL, Mellisa Romanus, of Irwin, TX, Kristin Romanus Harward (Don) of Duvall, WA; and great-grandchildren, Sam and Mackenzie Goodwin of El Paso, TX and Addison Goodwin of Orange Park, FL; brothers, Glen Deaton (Jewell) of Dayton, OH; sisters, Zelma Fultz of Newport News and Wanda Duncan (Heyward) of Hampton; and special friends, Doug and Billie Deese.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, September 5, 2013, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Wilma's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 6, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer's Association.
