She graduated from Lakeside School and Hanford High School in 1967. She lived her entire life in Hanford except for 3 years during her teens, when she lived in Lancaster.
Alene's first goal was to be a good wife and mother. However, later in life, she found herself running for Kings County Supervisor, District 5. She did so because she felt the current supervisor and the other candidates were not representing her or the agriculture interests of the district. She was successful and became the first woman to be elected to the Board of Supervisors in Kings County. She held this office for 12 years.
Her accomplishments while on the Board were the widening of Hwy 198 between Hanford and Visalia, establishing a secure water source for El Rancho subdivision, construction of the new jail, and many community projects in the Home Garden area. She was always a voice for the agriculture community. As a 4th generation farmer, she advocated for water projects and job-creating businesses.
Alene was an active member of the First Lutheran Church in Hanford for over 50 years.
Alene is survived by her husband Ernie Taylor of Hanford, sons Bryan and Jonathan of Hanford, daughters Cheryl Garner of Indio and Monica Kleber of Phoenix, her grandchildren Paul Fochetti, LaRissa Wilson, Todd Kleber and Luke Taylor, her sister-in-law Myra Crookshanks, and nieces, Robin, Jill and Sally, and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Ralph Jr., twin sister Irene and her son Paul.
