Donald Perry Williams was born April 29, 1934 in Deer Park, California (formerly known as Sanitarium, California) and entered his rest on March 30, 2017 in Hanford, California.
He leaves his beloved wife of 59 years, Darlene and his adored son and daughter, Mark Williams of Palm Springs, California and Yvonne Stoltz of Lemoore, California respectively, two greatly prized grandsons, Branden Stoltz and Bronsen Stoltz both of Los Angeles, California, and his only sibling and devoted sister, Mary Lou Jacobs of Katy, Texas, his cherished nephew and niece Jonathan Jacobs of Destin, Florida and Jeanette Jacobs Neal of Katy, Texas respectively.
Don sensed his call to Pastoral Ministry at an early age, preparing for Christian service throughout his education at Pacific Union College Preparatory School, graduating in 1952 and going forward for his undergraduate degree in Theology from Pacific Union College in 1957. During those years he held many leadership roles in spiritual and religious activities both on and off campus. He went on to study at the Seventh Day Adventist Theological Seminary in Washington DC where he earned the Masters of Theology. His years of ministry as an ordained Pastor of the Seventh Day Adventist Church began upon completion of studies in 1958. He served in the following ministries:
North Hollywood, CA, Church Pastor, 1958 to 1963
Modesto Union Academy, CA Bible Teacher, 1963 to 1965
Elmohaven Church Pastor, St. Helena, CA, 1965 to 1968
Hawaiian Mission Academy Bible Teacher, 1968 to 1971
Paradise Valley Church Youth Pastor, San Diego, CA, 1971 to 1974
Hanford Community Hospital (now Adventist Health) Chaplain, 1974 to 2002
Armona Church Pastor, 2002 to 2007
Hanford City Jail Chaplain, 2007 to 2015
Don’s devotion to his wife and family was his primary focus. Next came his fervent wish for everyone he would interact with to know of the saving grace of his personal Savior, Jesus Christ. This was the thread woven throughout his teaching, preaching, writings and music. He wrote over 200 poems and prayers, which have been made available to the public through the innovative work of his grandsons, Branden and Bronsen, who created a website: www.thechaplainscorner.com. He was always excited to produce songs and often sang them at various services throughout the community.
A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, April 5th at 3:00 pm at the Armona Seventh Day Adventist Church; 10771 14-1/2 Ave, Armona. The public is invited to attend.
