Elizabeth Marie Briano, born in Fresno, California, to Trinidad and Mary Briano, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2025; after a 27 year long battle with cancer. She was surrounded by loved ones during her final moments.
Elizabeth was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, Noni, and aunt to her immediate family and chosen family throughout her life. She touched many lives with her charismatic kind-hearted nature and acceptance of all those around her. Elizabeth was a generous and supportive friend to many throughout her life and continued to foster a sense of community wherever she went. In 1988 she returned to her educational pursuits and earned an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts from San Bernardino Valley College, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (Minor in Women’s Studies) and Master of Social Work from California State University, San Bernardino. She continued to take course work throughout her career to further her knowledge from the San Diego State School of Social Work. Elizabeth was a very active student becoming involved in the San Bernardino Chapter of the Kiwanis club and the Children’s Fund for Christmas. Elizabeth’s passion for children’s safety and the reunification of families drove her desire to become involved in many endeavors, including coordinating and executing multiple trainings for upcoming social workers within San Bernardino, Kern, Orange and Los Angeles Counties. After her extensive work in the emergency response field, she transitioned to working as a court officer and prepared many cases with the goal of protecting children and reunifying families. She was a valued mentor to her colleagues, who worked alongside her to change and make a positive impact on so many children’s lives throughout her career.
Elizabeth is survived by her sister and brother in-law, Kathleen & Mike Taves; her children, Jonathan Briano, Marc Carbajal, and Gia Carbajal-Garcia; her children-in-law, Kelly Briano, Jessica Carbajal, and Javier Garcia; her grandchildren, Samantha Renteria, Julie & Bradley Summers, Luis Carbajal, Carlos Garcia, Aryanna Carbajal, and Trini Carbajal; her great grandchild, Daisy Summers; her nieces and nephews, Matthew & Jessica Taves, and Keren Castro; her great nieces and nephews, Lucas Taves, Jacob Taves, Delia Castro, Chiara Castro, Gabrielle Castro; her grand-dogs, Zuki & Koji Briano, Ranger, Max, & Balki Garcia; her great grand-cats, Gandalf & Kara Renteria; her great grand-bird, Olivia Garcia; and so many chosen family members.
