OBITUARIO

Georgia Ann Douma

13 diciembre , 193325 julio , 2020

Georgia Ann Douma entered into heaven peacefully on July 25, 2020. She was born December 13, 1933, to Richard and Bonnie Stanfield in Williams, Oklahoma. In 1942 she moved with her family to Watsonville, California, and later met the love of her life, Henry Douma, while he was at boot camp in Ft. Ord, Monterey, California, during the Korean War. They were married May 3, 1952. After Hank’s service in the Army, they settled on their farm in Hanford, California, where they raised their children.

Georgia, as a busy homemaker and mother, was active in Kings River Hardwick School PTA, served on Christian Women’s Club Board, SPCA board, faithfully served in church as a Sunday school teacher, Vacation Bible School leader, AWANA leader, and led Bible studies at the Kings County Jail. She was known for always having an open door to her home for delicious meals and coffee times with family, friends and neighbors. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting and playing table games (letting her grandchildren cheat) and had compassion and tremendous love for children as she and Hank opened their home for her brother’s children after he and his wife’s tragic death. She had a passion for telling others about her Lord and Savior, Jesus, and generously supported many charities, including Crossroads Pregnancy Center.

Georgia was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Douma, and her brother James Stanfield. She is survived by her children Sandra Higgins (Tom), Jackie Douma, Carol Braun, Dan Stanfield, Paul Stanfield (Vicki), Becky Stanfield and Rachael Colvin (Jeff), grandchildren Sarah Higgins McReynolds (Matt), Shannon Higgins Poti (Sal), Madelin Braun, David Stanfield (Rebekah), Nathan Stanfield (Jodie), Lauren Stanfield, Kristen Stanfield, Jared Colvin (Kayla), Megan Colvin Williams (Dan), Caleb Colvin (Connie), Ben Colvin, Danny Stanfield (Sarah), Jason Stanfield (Heather) and 15 great grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be at Grangeville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Crossroads Pregnancy Center, P.O. Box 135, Hanford, CA 93230.

I can remember Georgia as far back as my memory goes. She was lovingly referred to as "Grandma Douma" when I was just a little gal in Sunday School at Grace Baptist. That term of endearment stuck and seeing Grandma Douma at church was a sure thing. Whether we were there for Sunday service, AWANA, children's church, or potlucks - we knew we could always get a hug from Grandma Douma. She would always invite our family over to pick walnuts, and share recipes with my mother Delihla, who was still sharpening her English after moving to the US from the Philippines. Our entire family extends our condolences to the Douma/Stanfield families and know she is rejoicing in Heaven.
All our love,
Jon, Delihla, Angela, Sarah & Alvin

I first met Georgia the first time I attended Grace Baptist in 1997. Georgia was first person to welcome me and introduced me to others at the church. She became a friend who immediately welcomed me into her family. Thru her, I learned and met others. She introduced me to StoneCroft Ministries, their luncheons and prayer breakfasts . We exchanged numerous phone calls , conversations checking in on each other. We also went to Silver Spur Retreat. Exchanged numerous quilting info, patterns, etc. Georgia and Becky also introduced me to the Riverdale Red Hat Stitchers and Crafters, where I met a wonderful group of ladies, Betty Colvin being among them and Rachel whom Georgia shared her family with me. Loved that lady who thru her demeanor lived a Godly life whom she always shared with others. I feel blessed to have known her.

My parents, John and Olga Strid met Hank and Georgia Douma when we attended Conservative Baptist Church in Hanford around 1958 - 1961. We would go out to their farm. Georgia was very gracious. Hank and Georgia came up to my parents 50th wedding anniversary in Madera RanchoS in 1998. My father passed away 7/11/2006. I was trying to reach Georgia to tell her my mother, Olga Strid, just passed away 7/29/2020 at the age of 94, when I saw Georgia’s obituary. They both loved the Lord so I don’t know exactly what heaven is like, but they are praising the Lord. My condolences to the family. Photo - May 2004 : Norma Stewart, Olga Strid, Georgia

To the Doumas and Stanfields -
Thank you for sharing your mom with our children. How fun it was for them to visit, learn to play with and in the dirt, play board games, and sit in the backyard watching Puppy with their 3rd grandma. Jesus speaks of life more abundantly. We believe that He used your mom to bless them like that.
Both of your parents were the best neighbors, friends and siblings in Christ Jesus.
God's blessings to all of you.

Sincerely,
Ron and Diane G.
