Gloria was born on June 12, 1949 to Antonio and Victoria Barba in Hanford, California. She was the ninth child in a family of thirteen brothers and sisters. Growing up Gloria attended McCarthy School and graduated from Hanford High School in 1967. Soon thereafter, she met the love of her life, Paul. They were married on September 20, 1969. Paul and Gloria established a home in Hanford, raising three children, Paul, Melanie, and Amanda, and were happily married for 48 years.
‘Momo’, as she was affectionately known by her grandkids and many in the community, was both HUMBLE and KIND. She had a compassionate soul who was always ready to help or pray for anyone in need. Her faith in her Lord Jesus Christ was loyal and strong as she was an active member of the Latin American Assembly of God Church in Hanford.
Mrs. Arevalo worked for more than twenty years in food service providing students with both nourishment and a kind smile at Hanford High and Hanford West High Schools before retiring. She enjoyed taking periodic visits to the beach, visiting her older brothers in northern and southern California, going to a casino every now and again with her sisters, singing along to her favorite songs, and watching her favorite television shows in the comfort of her living room. But her greatest joy of all was supporting her kids and grandkids at their various activities, events, and functions. Momo always tried to attend as many of them as possible. She will be missed dearly.
Gloria was preceded in death by her husband Paul; parents Antonio and Victoria; brothers Tony, Frank, Victor, Arthur, Danny, Peter, Johnny and sister Oliva. She is survived by her daughters Melanie and Amanda; son and daughter-in-law Paul and Amy, grandkids Florencio, Brooke, Tyler, Mia, Dominik, Isabella, Kade and great grandson Knox, all of Hanford, as well as brothers Harry and David and sisters Sally and Rosie.
Services will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024 at the People’s Funeral Chapel in Hanford. The viewing will be from 10:00 -11:00, followed by a celebration of life ceremony at 11:00 and a burial immediately after at the Hanford Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Hanford Fraternal Hall.
