Jack has been a long time resident of the Riverdale/Laton area. Jack attended and graduated from Laton High School, shortly after he relocated to Riverdale with his family where he met Connie Baker. Jack and Connie married August 23, 1961 in Hanford, California. Together they had three children Jackquelyn (Dec. 7, 1962- Dec. 7, 1962), Julie Ann and Jeffery LeRoy Dodd.
Jack began working as a young man hauling hay. Jack continued to seek a career and found work in the oil fields; until, he was hired on at Mid Valley as a Firefighter. Jack shared that his time with Mid Valley was the best years in his career. Unfortunately, Jack suffered a career ending accident; however, he refused to let this keep him down. Jack recovered and began to assist his father in-law with the honey bees and took over the family business.
Jack was an avid outdoorsman. He loved everything about nature. Jack hunted, fished and would spend hours just enjoying the sights and sounds of the running river and wind blowing through the trees. Even during Jack’s last years there wasn’t a day his Hummingbird feeder went without feed.
When Jack wasn’t enjoying the great outdoors he was mentoring children. Jack truly loved to spend time with his children. He was able to do this by becoming a coach. Jack coached, basketball, softball, and soccer for youth leagues, LDS Young Women’s activities and a few Women softball teams. Every team Jack coached one or both of his children played. Jack coached in a unique way sharing that with good sportsmanship comes victories.
Jack requested that he did not want those he left behind to be sad but to rejoice with him. Reminder my family and friends..It’s not how you play the game, it’s how you treat one another. Treat each other well. Until we meet again.
