Kenneth Evans (Bro. Ken) was born December 29, 1959 in Memphis, Tennessee. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 37 years Vicky Evans; two sons Christopher Evans of Fresno, CA and Benjamin Evans (Mandy) of Lemoore, CA; his mother Mary Ashley Evans; 4 brothers Neal Evans, Peter Evans, Marty Stonebreaker and Jimmy Thigpen; 3 sisters Jenny Sula, Debra Legan and Teri Torres; 3 grandsons Little Ben Evans, Ethan and Jonah Evans; one goddaughter Andrea Villanueva all of Lemoore, CA and his Lily of the Valley Church family. He was preceded in death by his father Neal Craig Evans.
Kenneth was a member of Lily of the Valley Church of Lemoore for 38 years where he served as a deacon, Sunday school superintendent, usher and church mechanic. He was an avid bible scholar with a passion for studying God’s word. He enjoyed digging deep into the history of the bible and lining up the word of God with other studies. His enthusiasm for the word of God inspired others to inquire of his knowledge. He was always willing to share his wisdom with others and provoked questions of deeper thought.
Ken attended Fresno City College in 1983 and received a certificate in auto repair. For many years his primary occupation was an auto mechanic. He worked throughout Kings, Tulare and Fresno Counties as a mechanic. In his later years, his skills allowed him to secure a job as a parts specialist at O’Reilly in Selma and Lemoore. He loved his job and was always there to lend a helping hand.
Kenneth was a devoted husband, father, son and caring brother. He had a great voice that would bellow out the words to a couple of songs that he is well known for, “To God Be the Glory” and “I Cannot Be Defeated”. He was well loved and will be greatly missed by family, friends, coworkers and all who knew him.
For many, this sums it all up, written by a young person who admired Ken’s level of greatness in the word of God: “The Great One has chosen to take one of our beloved fathers. A man full of knowledge and zealous in his pursuit of understanding. For years we have benefited from his studies and his insightful perspectives, but now we will hear from him no more.”
