Lula “Lou” B. Bertram passed away on March 18, 2013 at the age of 94, surrounded by her family. Born January 21, 1919 in Imperial, CA to Henry High Tyler and Wilma Ellen Tyler, she had a true “Grapes of Wrath” childhood moving up and down the San Joaquin Valley following the farm work until the family finally settled in Hanford. When Lou was 17, she moved to San Francisco to attend Glad Tidings Bible College. During WWII she worked at the Alameda Navy Ship Yards as a “Rosie the Riveter”. In 1947 she met and married Donald D. Bertram and they settled in the Bay Area. In 1960, the family moved to Hanford where she dedicated herself to family and church. She was especially proud of her beautiful iris garden which we all admired so much. In 2005, she sold her home and moved to the Remington where she enjoyed the last years of her life amongst her many friends. Lou was preceded in death by her husband Don in 1992. She is survived by her son, John Bertram of Hanford, her daughter Linda Landes of Sand Diego, her stepson Donald E. Bertram of Sacramento, 5 grandchildren , 9 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. In lieu of flowers the family requests love offerings in Lou’s memory to Glad Tidings Church PO Box 89 Hanford, CA 93232. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday March 24, 2013 from 5 – 7 pm and a Funeral Service on Monday, March 25, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. all at People’s Funeral Chapel 501 N. Douty St. Hanford, CA. Services will conclude at Hanford Cemetery.
