Marian Francis DeMont Bernstein

November 19, 1916 - July 3, 2013

Marian Francis Bernstein, 96 left this earth to be in heaven on July 3, 2013. Marian was born on November 19, 1916 to parents John Potter DeMont and Matilda Lavorel DeMont in Newman, California. She met and married William Trewhitt Bernstein, her life-long companion for more than sixty years. They lived a happy and long life in their country home, fondly known as "the ranch" on Flint Avenue, in Hanford, California raising their six children.

Marian is remembered for her genuine love and compassion for her children, family, and friends. Many special times included Marian's home cooking, warm conversation, and sharing her homemade cookies and fruit pies. Her flower garden was one of her greatest pleasures, especially her prized Irises. Her kindness, patience, and fun sense of humor will leave a lasting impression in all of our hearts.

She is preceded in death by her husband; William T. Bernstein, her parents; John and Matilda DeMont, her brother; Peter DeMont, and her sisters; Delores Reinhart, Cecil Morrow, and Molly VanNorwick.

Marian is survived by her six children; Barbara Bean, William T. Bernstein Jr., Patricia Miller, Timothy Bernstein, Mary Jane Michael and Gary Bernstein. She dearly loved her 20 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

Marian will be dearly missed by her family and friends but comforted that she is now at peace in heaven. The family would like to express our deepest appreciation to the caring staff at Diamond Terrace who loved and cared for her these past few years.

A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, July 12, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Hanford Cemetery; 10500 10th Avenue; Hanford, CA 93230 559-584-3937.
