Mildred (Millie) was born February 19, 1927 in Merced, California to Ruth and Lennox Trail. She was one of 5 siblings including Naoma Driskill, Patricia Gibson, Dale Trail and Franklin Trail. After a courtship that consisted of only 1 date & countless love letters to her soldier, she married the love of her life, Edwin Charles Netherton in Bakersfield, CA on April 27, 1946. They were married for 59 years before his passing in 2005. She had been counting the days (5,036) until their joyous reunion took place.
Millie was a member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where throughout the years she held many positions. Her great love of genealogy seemed to be her calling as she served as the director of the Family History Center for many years. She compiled her own family history dating back over 11 generations as a legacy to her children.
She was also very active in community services having served for over 15 years on the Student Attendance Review Board (SARB).
Early on in her marriage she worked for M.B. Pressey Insurance and a local physician, Dr. Athey; however, she soon discovered that her desire to be the best mother and homemaker she could be is where her time and energy needed to be focused. Millie was the cornerstone of a family that has called Coalinga home for over 70 years now. She loved her community, her friends and her church family greatly. A devoted wife, mother and sister, her love for her family and her faith in her Savior made her a friend to many and an example to all.
Today, Millie dances in Heaven with her best friend. Your spirit has moved on to happiness, but your footprint will remain within us forever. No words can describe what you have meant to us or how much you will be missed. It’s no surprise that the greatest compliment we can give you, also describes your greatest passion.
