Oratio Smith Sr.

On Sunday, January 23, 2022, Pastor Oratio Smith was called home to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Born August 12, 1928, in Acworth, Texas, Pastor Smith leaves behind his remaining 6 children, Elder Jimmy Lee Smith, Missionary Evalean McKnight, Minister Sam Earl Smith, Oratio Smith Jr., Steven Smith, and Loretta W. Smith.

Pastor Smith was preceded in death by his parents Isaiah and Allie Smith, wife of 67 years Missionary Jerlene Smith, Minister Bobby Lo Smith, Sis Betty Jean Smith and Alvin Lee Smith Sr.

Pastor Smith moved to Kings County in 1947 where he worked in the construction business for the State when the San Luis Canal was under construction. Upon retiring from the State, Pastor Smith slowly bought up to 30 properties that he used to house many families, providing stable homes in his community. Pastor Smith, along with his sons and church members, constructed and built Calvary Church of God in Christ in Lemoore, California, where he Pastored until his passing.
