Russ was one of my teachers at West Hills. He was a great source of information and knowledge. And, he was a good man who adored his family and enjoyed his job. 
I am blessed to have learned from him and to have known him.  Russ was awesome.

Rusty was my second cousin. I'd only seen him at family reunions in Hanford until he and Bonnie relocated to Oregon where I live, and then he'd just pop by to say hi. He likes comedies or sports on his TV, and oldies on his radio. His favorite song was Crystal Blue Persuasion by Tommy James and the Shondells. Though he was retired from law enforcement, he was still very much a cop, and was a passionate defender of life and the law. He would tell stories about horrible crime scenes as if they had occurred the day before, instead of a decade or two ago. And though we argued over politics and religion (he was a conservative Christian,) it never got uncivil or overly heated. He just loved people too much to let disagreements burn bridges. He passed the morning of my 60th birthday on May 4th, 2025, and it was way too soon. The fire in his heart, like the twinkle in his eye, made you believe he'd live to be at least 110. My heart goes out to Bonnie and the rest of his immediate family. His passing is a profound loss to all who were related to him, or who personally knew him. There's just no way to overstate how sincerely Russell Snow (Rusty to his friends and family) will be missed.

My heart is broken by the news of Russ's passing. Bonny and family, my sincerest and deepest condolences. My friendship with Russ (Rusty) began when we were 10 years old at Viking Elementary School in the countryside of Clovis, CA. By happenstance, our family moves for our fathers' work allowed me and Russ to continue our friendship through HS, after which we lost touch for decades as life took us to different parts of the world. I was happy that a HS reunion alum search brought us together again. Russ and Mike (MacDonald) and I had a wonderful reunion of our own when I couldn't attend the HS reunion. It was a joy to see Russ's heart for his old friends and to hear about the times in his life that were so much a part of his energy and love of life. He brought the past to life is his stories told in minute detail. He will be missed.

Going back a few years… Mid-70’s  I could count on a good laugh.   We have not talked in maybe 10-15 years, but the memories are still more vivid than my recall of what I ate for breakfast this morning.  The days of LPD with two vehicles on the road and those two cars were less than subtle because of squeaky brakes.

Thank you for the friendship and the entertainment.  God speed and try to watch for my future arrival.

I had the honor to visit with Rusty a week before he passed away.  He was so happy and had a great outlook as always.  He brought me a gift and I will cherish it forever.  I hope my father (the late Lt. Don Ames) was there to greet him and help him to his final destination.  My sympathy goes out to his family and loved ones.  I'll miss you Rusty.  You were the best!

I worked with Sgt. Snow in the Kings County Jail some 40 years ago. He made work fun and treated the deputies fairly. He sang silly songs at work. He paid attention to the radio and would give us warning if we were about to be slammed with  incoming bookings from various agencies. We managed to get them all booked before the end of shift.  He really treated the deputies well. RIP Sgt. Snow.
