Sosteno Renteria Yrigollen

Sosteno Yrigollen, known as “Sy” to his friends was born January 16, 1926, in Abilene, Texas to Manuel and Isabel Yrigollen.

Sosteno was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather; he always put his family and friends first. He always had a smile on his face and loved to tell jokes and stories. He enjoyed his morning coffee with friends at Burger King where he could talk of the past. He loved watching his favorite football team; the Dallas Cowboys, who he was watching before he passed. On Saturday night you could find him pressing his pants & shirt for mass on Sunday morning. He loved his Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and loved it when Father joked with him about wanting to wear his Cowboy hat.

As a Youth he served as an Alter Boy in Abilene, Texas where he also enjoyed playing baseball and basketball with friends.

He married Antonia Suarez Yrigollen in Eastland, Texas in 1944 and also served in the U.S. Navy. Then moved to Sunnyvale, CA in 1955, where he worked and raised his family of four.

He worked as a Machinist at Schick Products in Belmont, CA and retired in Hanford, CA with his wife. While living in Hanford he worked as a Greeter at Wal Mart.

He was preceded in death by his Wife; Antonia Suarez Yrigollen in June 2008; one son; Sosteno Yrigollen Jr. two sisters; Enriqueta Hernandez and Pilar Gonzales; and three brother’s; Adolfo Yrigollen, Vincente Yrigollen & Manuel Yrigollen.

Survivors include two daughter’s; Celia Macias of Tracy, CA & Yolanda Arias, of Bakersfield, CA; one son; Albert Yrigollen of Fresno, CA; one brother; Benjamin Yrigollen, of Hanford, CA.; and his 10 loving grandchildren; & 13 beautiful great-grandchildren; He will be missed by all, but has left us with just fond memories, may he rest in peace.

A Visitation will be held Thursday, September 22, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at People’s Funeral Chapel; 501 N. Douty Street, Hanford, CA 93230 559-584-5591. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 23, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church; 10355 Hanford-Armonda Road, Hanford, CA 93230 559-584-8576 with Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery; 11680 S. 10th Avenue, Hanford, CA 93230 559-584-3937.

Services are under the direction of People’s Funeral Chapel.
