Stephen Donald "Steve" Kirchert

14 junio, 1947 – 1 mayo, 2025
Obituario de Stephen Donald "Steve" Kirchert
EN EL CUIDADO DE

People’s Funeral Chapel

Stephen Donald Kirchert passed peacefully from this life on May 1, 2025, leaving behind a legacy as enduring as the Central Valley farmland he shaped for nearly forty years.

Born on June 14, 1947, to Donald and Claran Kirchert, Steve grew up on the family property west of Hanford—a place so deeply ingrained in his heart that he tended it until the last months of his life.

After graduating from Hanford High School, Steve spent ten dedicated years with Standard Register in Porterville. Yet, the freedom of open fields called, and he answered by establishing his own land-leveling business, serving farmers throughout Kings and Tulare Counties for nearly forty years. Known for his unwavering integrity and determination, Steve earned his clients' trust with a handshake as reliable as any contract, and attention to detail that earned him work all throughout the Central Valley, and along the Central Coast. After retirement he could often be found building whirligigs in the garage, hunting squirrels, or tending the property he grew up on.

Away from the fields, Steve had a generous heart as expansive as his towering frame. Alongside his wife, Marion Kirchert, he raised their grandson, Nathan, teaching him valuable lessons: how to hunt, the importance of putting tools back in their proper place, the dignity of hard work, and the courage to stand firm. He faced the loss of their daughter, Marlene Fuller, with quiet strength. Steve is survived by his brother, David Kirchert; three cherished nieces, Abby, Megan, and Heidi Kirchert; and his beloved grandchildren, Nathan Odom and Hailey Hathcock.

A celebration honoring Steve’s remarkable life will be held on Thursday, May 16, at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Bible Church, located at 11th Avenue & Fargo in Hanford (93230). Friends, neighbors, and all whose land benefited from his meticulous leveling are warmly invited to join, share memories, and fellowship.
