

Carl Edward Peterson, 79, passed away after a brave battle with cancer on April 5, 2021, surrounded by his beloved wife Dorothy and loved ones, at his Pembroke Farm. Born in Malden on July 19, 1941, he was the son of the late Paul and Doris Peterson. He grew up in Randolph and was a resident of Pembroke since 1969.
Carl proudly served his country from 1958 to 1962 in the U.S. Navy, aboard the newly built USS Patrick Henry SSBN 599, a Nuclear powered ballistic missile submarine. His crew held the record for the longest time submerged under the polar ice caps for 63 days.
Upon leaving the Navy, Carl founded South Shore Ornamental Iron, a business that he enjoyed and prospered from while serving the New England area since 1965. Carl attended Norfolk Agricultural School and became an avid breeder of Charolaise cattle.
Carl instilled a strong work ethic to all around him. Carl was a man who always spoke his mind. He shared his love of farming and hosted Easter Egg Hunts for his grandchildren and many friends. Carl also passed on the love of vintage cars to all his children, which included annual trips to car shows.
Carl will be sorely missed by many friends and business associates including all the friends at “Marylous News” where he spent every morning getting energized. Most of Carl’s closest friends shared his love for Vintage Hot Rods, farming, and a good cup of coffee.
Carl is survived by his wife Dorothy of Pembroke. He was predeceased by his son Carl Peterson and is survived by his son's wife, Susan. Carl is survived by his children, son Michael Peterson and his wife Maureen, son Stephen Peterson, son Charles Peterson and his wife Kimberly, daughter Annette DiIorio and her husband Vincent, daughter Rebecca Skinner and her husband John, son Michael Faghan, daughter Jennifer Janczurewicz and her husband John. Carl leaves behind his 19 loving grandchildren, Carl, Cara, Alex, Aaron, Haley, Michael, Caroline, Mia, Matthew, Julia, Marissa, Dominic, John, Lillian, Hannah, Kyla, Braeden, Isabella, and Harrison. Carl is survived by his brother Kenneth and his wife Margie.
Graveside service will be held at 1PM, Friday April 9, 2021 at Sagamore Cemetery, Sandwich Road, Sagamore. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Carl’s memory to the Plymouth County 4H. 44 Obery St, Plymouth, MA 02360
