
Mrs. Catherine Jane ''Kay'' Donovan Marshall, 81 of Rockland died Monday, June 5, 2006 at home after a long illness. The daughter of the late Daniel and Mary Jane ''Jenny'' Foley Donovan, she was born in Weymouth on July 6, 1924. She was raised and educated and a life long resident of Rockland. Mrs. Marshall was a 1942 graduate of Rockland High School and a 1950 graduate of the Mass Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. Upon graduation she was employed as an Instructor at the Nursing School for 1 year. She was later employed at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth and the Good Samaritan Hospital in West Palm Beach FL before serving as a school nurse for Town of Rockland from 1966 until 1986, she retired as the nurse at Rockland Junior High School. She had also worked as a Private Duty Nurse and as a Traveling Nurse. Mrs. Marshall served as Treasurer of the Rockland Branch of the Salvation Army and was a volunteer at South Shore Hospital. Mrs. Marshall played the piano, enjoyed painting, drawing and was an avid gardener. She made weekly visits to the Rockland Library and read the New Yorker magazine cover to cover each week. She also enjoyed tackling crossword puzzles daily and was a formidable Scrabble player. She and her husband frequented plays and museums in Boston and enjoyed traveling to England, Ireland, and Quebec City. She is survived by her husband, John W. Marshall, 3 daughters, Jane L. Marshall of Bristol RI, Nancy C. Marshall of Somerville and Anne E. Marshall and her husband, Robert of Prudence Island RI, 1 brother, Lawrence Donovan of Marshfield, 1 sister, Mary ''Betty'' Madsen of West Palm Beach FL, 2 grandchildren, John A. Marshall and Catherine Q. Marshall both of Prudence Island RI and 2 sister in laws, Mary Casey of Wareham and Lillian Marshall of Mansfield. She was the daughter in law of the late Walter and Phoebe Marshall. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 9, 2006 at 9 AM in Holy Family Church, 403 Union Street in Rockland. Interment in Holy Family Cemetery. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 45 East Water in ROCKLAND on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
