Dennis H. Nelson, 73 of Hanover, passed away peacefully at his home in Hanover on November 27, 2018. Dennis was born in Lynn and raised in Scituate, MA. After graduating from Scituate High School he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard where he was stationed in St. Petersburg, Florida, Sandwich MA, and proudly served on the Nantucket Lightship. He earned his Associates degree in Business Administration at Bristol Community College and a Certificate in Marketing at the Andover Institute. After the Coast Guard, Dennis worked for 36 years at UPS and was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 653.
Dennis enjoyed the outdoors, trips to Vermont with his wife, and feeding the birds on the back deck. He especially loved riding his motorcycle as well as giving unofficial narrated driving tours of Scituate, a place where he was proud to have been raised. Most of all, Dennis adored spending time with his wife and his family. He had an active mind, interested in airplanes and aeronautics. He was known to have animated political discourse and could be often found on his computer exploring and researching new concepts and theories. He contemplated the stars and the mysteries of the universe. Dennis was a humble and caring man, a devoted friend, and a true gentleman. He brought life to the party in his own quiet way.
Dennis was the son of the late John Xavier Kennedy and the late Margaret Shirlee Nelson Kennedy. He was the devoted husband of Carol Anzuoni, loving brother of John Nelson, Maureen DeMaranville, Paul Nelson, and Christina Ellis. Dennis is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, the Anzuoni family and the O’Neil family. He was raised by the late Sarah O’Neil of Scituate and leaves siblings Janice Rinker, Ellen Prophet, Sandra Higgins and Kathleen Rindge and the late Virginia Hunter, Thomas, Paul, Eugene and William O’Neil.
