
Donald P. Johnston, 80 of Hanover died on January 16 at his home. Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Melvin and Anne Kelly Johnston. He was a long time machinist in the manufacturing field before his retirement. Donald proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War as a machinist's mate on the USS Salem. He was an avid Boston sports enthusiast, and enjoyed coaching, refereeing and umpiring youth sports. Donald was predeceased by his wife Patricia Haley Johnston and is survived by his children, Donald H. Johnston of Rockland, Michael D. Johnston of Rockland, Brian F. Johnston of Pembroke, Dennis P. Johnston of Pembroke and Patricia Hynes Reidy of Hanover and his eight grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Malcolm Johnston of Weymouth and his sister Barbara Engler of Raynham. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St., Rte 53, in Hanover on Tuesday, from 5-8PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00AM in St. Joseph the Worker Church, 1 Maquan St., Rte 14 in Hanson. Interment at a later date.
