
Mrs. Elizabeth R. ''Bette'' Hines Clawson, 80, of North Abington died Monday, May 16, 2005 at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth after a brief illness. The daughter of the late Melvin and Grace McCaffrey Hines, she was born in Rockland on June 21, 1924. She was raised and educated in Rockland and was a resident of Abington the past 55 years. Mrs. Clawson and her late husband, James were the Owners and Operators of the Bayberry Motel in South Harwich for 35 years. For many generations , ''Bette'' represented the best of Old Cape Cod for returning tourists to the MidCape area. She was an avid fan of New England Sports, an avid reader and enjoyed her family and they her. Wife of the late James S. Clawson, she is survived by 1 Son, Thomas J. Clawson and his wife Janet of Millbury, 5 daughters, Grace ''Elizabeth'' Clark and her husband, William of South Easton, Catherine ''Deedee'' Clawson of Abington, Joan Farrington and her husband Bradford of Abington, Elizabeth ''Betsy'' Maloof and her husband, Cornelius of Brockton and Jane Sullivan and her husband, Nicholas of Bradford, 2 brothers, Melvin Hines and his wife, Edna of Largo FL and George Hines and his wife Betty of Rockland, 2 sisters, Miriam Edwards and her husband, Francis of Abington and Mary Monks and her husband, Harry of Kingston and 5 grandchildren, Kristofer Clawson, Jayne Clawson, James Farrington, Katherine Sullivan and Nicholas Sullivan Jr. She was the sister of the late John Hines. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 19, 2005 at 9 AM in St. Bridget Church, 455 Plymouth Street, Rte 58 in Abington. Interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery in Rockland. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 41-45 East Water Street in ROCKLAND on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
