Elizabeth Mary FitzGerald Roberts

Elizabeth Mary FitzGerald Roberts, cherished wife of 66 years of William F. Roberts, died Friday, November 27, 2009 after a brief illness. She was 86 years old and a lifelong resident of Rockland. She was the granddaughter of Bartholomew FitzGerald, who was one of the first Selectman of the Town of Rockland, and the daughter of John B. FitzGerald, who was a longtime Trustee of the Rockland Public Library, a position Elizabeth also held for many years after serving as a member of the Board of the Rockland Visiting Nurse Association. She was the Secretary of the North Sandwich Community Association of Sagamore Beach, where she and her family, often including her dear late brother, John A. FitzGerald, enjoyed over 40 summers. Elizabeth was the Salutatorian of her Rockland High School class, attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and graduated from Bridgewater State College. She was employed as a paralegal at the Rockland Law Office of J. Michael Roberts, Esq., P.C. until her death. She is the beloved mother of William F. Roberts Jr Constance Kinnealey of Milton, J.Michael Roberts Holly Arnold of Hanover, Steven A. Roberts of Reading, and Lisa A. Roberts of Braintree. She in the loving and proud grandmother of Jeffrey Roberts, Alison Thurston, the late Matthew Roberts, the late Mark Roberts, the late Erin A. Roberts, and of Brian Roberts, Meghan Roberts, Andrew Roberts, Rebecca Jurgela, and Kevin Roberts. She is the great grandmother of Joseph Thurston Jr., Marcus Thurston, Ava Thurston, and Anne Elizabeth Roberts. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St., Rte 53 in HANOVER on Monday from 4-8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 AM in St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover St., Rte 139 in Hanover. Interment in Holy Family Cemetery in Rockland.
