Frank was a longtime resident of Boston's South Shore, having spent his childhood in Quincy, MA, with his late parents, Audrey and Frank, and his two younger sisters, Donna McCloskey and Ellen Sirois. He later raised his two children, Frank Granara II and Michelle Granara, in Norwell, MA, alongside his late wife, Jean Granara, who passed away unexpectedly from brain cancer in 2019.
Frank leaves behind many beloved family members, including his two children, Frank and Michelle; his daughter-in-law, Erin Granara; and his four grandchildren: Charles De Roma, Hunter Webster, Evelyn Granara, and Peri Granara. He is also survived by his fiancé, Judith Celata, and her daughter, Emma Lally; his stepson, Dean Kesaris, Dean’s wife, Daniela Kesaris, and their children, Alex and Gina; as well as his cherished nieces and nephews: Marisa Shore, Melanie Reddy, Matt McCloskey, and Bobby Sirois.
Frank's remarkable life and career leave an enduring legacy as the President and CEO of General Insulation. He was especially proud of earning his bachelor's degree from Northeastern University while balancing the demands of raising his family and growing his company.
Throughout his career, Frank transformed General Insulation from a single warehouse in Somerville, MA, into one of the largest insulation distributors in the world. At the time of his passing, he employed hundreds of people, all of whom he considered family.
Frank’s leadership and business acumen were widely admired by his family, team members, and friends. He devoted his time and resources to helping others start and grow their businesses, leaving an indelible mark on the lives he touched. His innovations and insights led him to co-author two books with his friend Lorraine Grubbs, including the bestseller Beyond The Executive Comfort Zone: Outrageous Tactics To Ignite Individual Performance.
A private celebration of life will be held, with invitations to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the following organizations, which held personal significance to Frank and his family:
● The Joan Trumpauer Mulholland Foundation: This foundation was among the last philanthropic causes Frank explored with his daughter, Michelle, reflecting his interest in education and creating opportunities for future generations. Donations support their scholarship program and can be made at https://joantrumpauermulholland.org.
● The Granara-Skerry Trust: Frank’s enduring love and loyalty to his extended family inspired his commitment to fighting pancreatic cancer, a cause that touched their lives deeply. Contributions in his honor can be made at https://pancure.org.
