

James Austin Bartholomew, 92, died on July 26, 2016 after a period of failing health. Born in Dorchester, he was the son of the late Anthony and Mary (Bradley) Bartholomew. Jim moved to Hanover in 1954 where he raised 6 children with his late wife, Barbara (Dowd) Bartholomew.His long career as an electronic salesman began at Radio Shack. He was in the U.S. Army from 1941-1946. He later worked for Sterling Electronics for over 20 years where he received multiple awards for his achievements as a top salesman, retiring in 1989. He enjoyed reading and watching the Red Sox and the Patriots.He is survived by his children and their families, Jane of Quincy, Paul and Sherry of Port Orange, FL, John and Kim of Abington, Ellen and Tim Boyd of Rochester, Martin and Donna of Hanover, and Patty Gage of Pembroke. He was the brother of the late William. He is also survived 11 grandchildren. A special thank you to Senior Helpers, especially Nancy for helping Jim stay in his home.Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Homes, 551 Washington St. Rte. 53, Hanover, on Sunday from 2-5PM. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Church, 392 Hanover St. Rte. 139, Hanover, on Monday at 10 AM, followed by a burial at Hanover Center Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations can be made to the Hanover Council on Aging, 665 Center St, Hanover, MA 02339, St. Mary’s Church, or keeping with Jim’s kind demeanor, a random act of kindness in his memory.
