

Julia T. (Irwin) Collins, 73 of Halifax and formerly of East Boston, passed away on December 27, 2014. Born on February 21, 1941 in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Kathleen (McFarland) Irwin. Julia enjoyed gardening and watching birds. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Julia was the beloved wife of the late Leonard M. Collins. Devoted mother of Raymond E. Collins of Plymouth, Catherine L. Mortimer and her husband Joseph of Abington, and Carolyn D. Lydon and her husband John of Halifax. Dear sister of Edward Irwin of Boston, James Irwin of Marlborough, and the late John Irwin, William Irwin, and Mary Brulport. Cherished grandmother of Raymond L. Collins, Ryan A. Rantala, Catrina D. Rantala, Russell J. Hadfield Jr., Ciara C. Freitas, Cayla C. Hadfield, Colby C. Collins, James W. Lydon III, and Jilliane R. Mortimer; great-grandmother of Zoey J. and Sofia L. Rantala. Julia is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Homes, 2 Maquan St. Cor. Rte. 14 & 58, HANSON, on Friday from 5-8 PM. Funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 580 Monponsett Street, Halifax, on Saturday at 9 AM. Burial in Central Cemetery in Halifax.
