He is survived by his wife Anita Porter (Johnson), daughter Abigail Porter of Tewksbury, sons John, Kyle, and Charles of Pembroke, and sister Jean “Shelley” Carew of Dracut. He was predeceased by his parents Clyde and Jean Porter of Lowell and brother Clyde "Hank" Porter. Mike grew up in South Lowell and graduated from Lowell High where the love of music bug bit him and started to grow. After high school, he worked at Service Merchandise, Verizon, and many jewelry establishments where he grew a love for gemstones, and metals and ultimately started designing his own jewelry pieces including Anita's wedding set and many other pieces.
Later in life, he became disabled due to a blood clot on the brain, but still, never one to sit still, enjoyed running a booth at the Raynham Flea Market with his family. Throughout his life, he had a passion for singing, outdoor activities, darts, pool, and many nights at the Roller Kingdom. Many saw his tough exterior, but underneath beat the heart of gold of a man who loved his family and friends most of all. Everyone he touched loved his hugely generous caring nature. He was the first one to poke a joke at himself or have a quick-witted comeback without ever missing a beat, especially if he was tired. On an off night, he would enjoy playing card games from Magic the Gathering, Pokémon, and Cards Against Humanity. Mike loved his family deeply and talked about the future, life, dreams, and goals. He will be missed by all those he touched in his short time here.
