

Paul J Cameron, Sr. born July 4th 1927, was the husband of Margaret T Cameron Brassil and father of seven, passed away as he slept on Wednesday, February 14. He was an educator of thousands and was actively involved in many organizations with his children as well as community groups. Paul was a proud graduate of Boston College. He was a language teacher and administrator in the Boston Public School system for over 30 years, including time at Boston Latin, The Jeremiah Burke School and Jamaica Plain High School among others. Although he enjoyed his time as an administrator, his love was teaching. He will be remembered with wince-some fondness for the many puns he told. Following High School, he took a job with the Associated Press. At eighteen, he joined the Naval Reserve and served on active duty from 1945 to 1946. Paul was actively involved in town service; serving on the Planning Board, Cranberry Cove Committee, as well as the Council for Elder Affairs. He chose to serve in roles at a local level where he believed he could make an impact. As his children were growing, he was actively involved as a youth baseball coach, Cub Scout pack 35 cub master, a founder and leader of Boy Scout Troop 101, a CYO leader, and chauffeur to swim meets around the country. He spent many years as a Lion, including two years as King Lion for the Lions Club of Hanson A man of great, faith Paul was an active participant at the St Joseph the Worker Parish. He could be found at Saint Joseph's as an usher every Sunday. His smile and love of the many people whose lives he touched will stay with them forever. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Brassil Cameron, 6 sons, Paul J. Cameron Jr. and his wife, Catherine M. of Rockland, Kevin Cameron and his wife Christine A. of Hanson, Robert Cameron and his wife Anne-Marie of Hanover, Thomas Cameron and his wife, Kari of FL, James Cameron and his wife Tammy of FL and Brian S. Cameron of Beverly 1 daughter, Margaret M. Hickey and her husband, David of Hanson, 2 cousins, Mary G. Kirby of Quincy and Lee Gurry of Quincy. Also survived by 15 grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 19, 2007 at 10 AM in St. Joseph the Worker Church, 1 Maquan Street, Rte 14 in Hanson. Interment in Fern Hill Cemetery in Hanson. Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 2 Maquan Street, at the corner of Rte 14 & 58 in HANSON on Sunday from 4-8 PM.
