

Susan Briggs Richardson, age 77, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Susan was born at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, Massachusetts, to the late Austin and Carolyn Briggs. She grew up in Hanover, Massachusetts, and graduated from Hanover High School and then attended the Chandler School for Women located in Boston. She went on to build a long and meaningful career as an orthodontic assistant, working alongside Dr. Barnes and Dr. Mazzocco, where she was known for her warmth, professionalism, and care for patients. Susan was a devoted and loving mother to her two daughters, Kristin and Kellie. She was a proud grandmother fondly known as “Grammy” to six grandchildren: Hannah, Addisyn, Kyle, Jarrett, Taylor, and Brystal each of whom brought her immense joy and more than anything else, Susan loved her family. She is survived by her brother Stanley Briggs and his wife Valerie; her twin sister Beverly Lamanna and her husband Bob; and her brother Austin Briggs and his wife Nerexy. She was predeceased by her parents, Austin and Carolyn Briggs, her brother Fred Briggs, and her sister Carol Ann (Briggs) Richardi. Susan loved to laugh, she was a happy and enthusiastic person who loved playing tennis, skiing, and watching sports, especially when cheering on her grandchildren from the sidelines. She treasured time spent with family, particularly preparing Sunday meals that brought everyone together. She was actively involved in her community through the garden club, investment club, and enjoyed getting together with close friends for “gourmet night.” She took great pleasure in working in her yard and garden. She maintained many close friendships and valued the time spent visiting with friends and loved ones. Susan lived courageously with Multiple Sclerosis for many years, constantly demonstrating grace and resilience. Her passing followed a short illness due to ovarian cancer. The family offers heartfelt thanks to Susan’s loyal friends, to all the staff at The Branches of North Attleboro for their compassionate care, and to the Beacon Hospice team for surrounding Susan and her family with dignity, comfort, and love. A funeral service will be held on April 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at First Congregational Church, 547 Hanover Street, Hanover, Massachusetts. Burial will follow at Hanover Center Cemetery on Silver Street in Hanover. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Susan’s memory to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the American Cancer Society (ovarian cancer research).
