

She was raised and educated in Mattapan, MA. She met her husband of 55 years at a CYO dance when they were 15. After a brief separation due to the Vietnam conflict, they were married and spent their happiest years traveling throughout his military career. She particularly enjoyed telling stories about their time spent in Japan. After leaving military service, they moved to Massachusetts where they raised their 4 children. She enjoyed spending time with her aunts and uncles and, in later years, her grandchildren. She particularly loved all the dogs that were a part of her life. Pam is survived by her husband, Robert Hughes of Halifax, and her children; Laura Laing and husband Peter of Hanson, MA, Diane Hughes and her husband Joshua Nelson of Atlanta, GA, Kathleen Streeter and her husband Tony of Atlanta, GA, and Brian Lennon and his husband David of Guilford, CT. She is also survived by several grandchildren that she loved; Rachel, Rebecca, Derek, Arthur, Jamaal, Zoe, Sage, and Jonah and her American Eskimo, Louie. She is also survived by her brother Frank Smith of Illinois, and Patricia McEttrick of Illinois.
Her family would like to thank the nurses and staff of CROI Health and Kindhearted Caregiver who provided Pam with the medical care that allowed her to remain in her own home. Every worker who came into her home treated her with warm care and compassion, making her last years with a difficult disease happy ones.
A wake will be held for family members on Friday, May 22, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Sullivan Funeral Home at 814 Indian Head St. Hanson, MA 02341.
